Spēk Romance: meet someone who doesn’t speak your language, and hear them in yours
ArtemisWorx adds an opt-in dating layer to Spēk, the translator that speaks in your own cloned voice. Every heart on the map is voice-verified live, every AI companion is labelled, and the first date is a conversation in which each person hears the other in their own language, in the other’s own voice.
BOSTON, October 19, 2026 — ArtemisWorx LLC today launched Spēk Romance, a way to meet someone across a language inside Spēk, its live translator. Spēk already lets two people who share no language talk, each hearing the other in their own language and in the speaker’s own cloned voice. Romance takes that one step further: a short profile, a ten-second voice line, a heart on a world map, and a first conversation that sounds like the two of you. It is live today in the Android app on Google Play and on the web at spek2me.com, and comes to the iPhone app with its next App Store update.
Language has always been the first wall between two people who might have liked each other. Dating apps have made the world smaller in every way but that one: a match in another country is still a match you cannot talk to. Spēk Romance removes the wall rather than asking anyone to climb it.
How it works
- Opt in. Romance lives under Friends → Find friends. Nothing about it shows until a person turns it on, and they confirm their year of birth first: Romance is for adults only.
- Say who you are, in ten seconds. A short profile covers what a voice cannot: what you are looking for, who you would like to meet, where you are. Then you record one ten-second line in your own voice. That line is your introduction.
- Prove you are real, live. Before a heart can appear, the person reads three random words aloud. The words change every time, so nothing prepared in advance can pass. Hearts that passed carry a Voice verified mark.
- Hear them in your language. Tap any heart and hear that person’s line translated into your language, in their own voice. The woman in Rio recorded hers in Portuguese; a listener in Boston hears English, and it still sounds like her.
- Hearts turn red together. Send a romantic invite. If the other person says yes, both hearts turn red and a private room opens for the two of you.
- The first date is a conversation. The room is Spēk’s two-phone mode: hold, talk, let go. Each person hears the other in their own language, in the other’s own voice. Ten ready-made flirt lines are translated as they are sent, and a set of hand-drawn gifts can be sent for free.

“Every dating app in the world can show you someone in another country. Not one of them lets you talk to them. We built Spēk so my Brazilian in-laws could hear me in my own voice, and then we realised the same thing is true of two strangers who might fall for each other. The language was never the problem. Hearing each other was.”

Built for safety first
- Adults only. Romance asks for a year of birth and refuses anyone under 18. A person’s age is shown as a decade, never a number.
- Voice verification, live. Every heart on the map read random words aloud at the moment it was created. The recording is checked and then discarded; it is not kept.
- AI companions are always labelled. Seven practice partners from the Spēk team, in Portuguese, Spanish, French, Italian, German, Japanese and English, are on the map from day one so there is always someone to talk to. Each carries a visible AI tag on its heart, in its profile and in the room. They are never presented as people.
- Nobody is told. A Romance profile is separate from a person’s friends. It can be hidden from friends, paused, or left at any time, and no one is notified.
- One tap to report. Asking for money, pretending to be someone else, unwanted sexual content, or anyone who seems to be under 18 can be reported from the ⋯ menu. Reports of this kind are reviewed first, within 24 hours. Blocking is immediate and two-way.
- The rules are public. Spēk’s community rules, including the Romance rules and its child-safety standards, are published at spek2me.com/rules.

Pricing and availability
Spēk Romance is free during its launch. It is part of Spēk, which is free to use every day; Spēk Plus, at US$9.99 a month or US$59.99 a year, removes the daily limit on translations spoken in your own voice and is unchanged. Romance is live today in the Android app on Google Play and in the web app at spek2me.com, and arrives in the iPhone app with its next App Store update.
