Data protection for Spēk Connect partners

Effective October 22, 2026 · ArtemisWorx LLC, New Hampshire, USA

The short version. Spēk Connect is a link. When your user taps it, they open Spēk, and the only things the link carries are two language codes and your app's name. You give us no personal data, and we give you none back: you get usage counts and, if you are a design partner, revenue figures.

Because your users use Spēk directly, under our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy, ArtemisWorx is responsible for their data in Spēk as an independent controller. We are not your processor, so a processor agreement (GDPR article 28) does not apply. This page sets out what each side does instead, and gives you a paragraph for your own privacy policy.

Part 1 · Data protection addendum

This addendum applies between ArtemisWorx LLC ("Spēk", "we") and any app or website that links to Spēk using Spēk Connect ("the Partner"). It takes effect when the Partner ships a Spēk Connect link, or when both sides sign below, whichever comes first.

1. What the link carries

  1. A Spēk Connect link carries only: the user's language code (from), the other person's language code (to, optional), the Partner's name (ref), and, if the Partner wants a way back, the address of one of the Partner's own pages (return).
  2. The Partner will not add anything else to the link, and in particular no names, email addresses, account or booking identifiers, locations or other personal data.
  3. If a link ever carries more than this, Spēk will not use the extra data and will delete it when found.

2. Roles

  1. Each side is an independent controller of the personal data it handles. The Partner is responsible for its own users' data in its own app. Spēk is responsible for what a person does inside Spēk: their speech, translations, voice (if they choose to record one), account and purchases.
  2. No personal data is transferred from the Partner to Spēk, or from Spēk to the Partner, under Spēk Connect.
  3. Neither side processes personal data on the other's behalf.

3. What Spēk commits to

  1. Consent for voices. A voice is recorded only after the person accepts a consent screen in their own language. Only adults (18 or older) may clone a voice, and only their own. The Partner cannot remove or bypass this screen.
  2. Use. A voice model is used only to speak that person's own translated words. It is never sold, never shared for anyone else's use and never used to train models.
  3. Retention and deletion. Conversation audio is not kept. The text of conversations is kept for up to 30 days. Voices and accounts are kept until the person deletes them, which they can do at any time in the app or at spek2me.com/delete-account. Deleting a voice deletes it at our voice partner too.
  4. No advertising, no sale. Spēk sells no personal data, shows no ads and does no cross-app tracking.
  5. Service providers. Spēk uses service providers for speech recognition, voice, translation, hosting, email and payments, listed by role in the Privacy Policy. They process data only to run Spēk.
  6. Security. Data is encrypted in transit and access is limited to what is needed to run and support the service.
  7. Requests. Spēk handles access, correction and deletion requests from its users directly, within 30 days. If the Partner receives a request about Spēk, it may forward it to hello@spek2me.com.
  8. Incidents. If a security incident at Spēk affects people who arrived through the Partner's link, Spēk will tell the affected people as the law requires and will tell the Partner without undue delay, so it can answer its own users.
  9. Changes. Spēk will give the Partner at least 30 days' notice by email of any change to its Privacy Policy that affects what this addendum says.

4. What the Partner commits to

  1. Keep the link to the parameters in section 1.
  2. Describe Spēk accurately to its users, for example with the paragraph in Part 2, and not promise anything about Spēk that this page and our policies do not say.
  3. Not ask its users for their Spēk code, voice or account details.

5. What Spēk reports back

  1. Usage counts for the Partner's ref: how many conversation turns and how many seconds of speech, as daily totals.
  2. For design partners with a revenue share: the number of accounts that first arrived through the Partner's link, the number of paying subscribers among them, and the revenue figures the share is calculated from.
  3. Reports never include names, email addresses, voices, conversation text or any other personal data.

6. Ending

  1. Either side may end this at any time. For the Partner, removing the link is enough.
  2. When it ends, people who already use Spēk stay Spēk users under our terms; nothing about them is transferred to or from the Partner.
  3. Sections 2, 3 and 5.3 continue to apply to data handled while the link was live.

7. Law

This addendum is governed by the laws of the State of New Hampshire, USA. If the Partner needs a different form (for example its own controller-to-controller terms), write to hello@spek2me.com and we will look at it.

Part 2 · A paragraph for your privacy policy

Paste this into your privacy policy, where you list the services your app links to. Replace [Your app] with your app's name.

Live translation by Spēk. [Your app] links to Spēk, a voice translation service run by ArtemisWorx LLC in the United States. When you tap the translate button, you leave [Your app] and open Spēk in your browser or in the Spēk app. We send Spēk only the two languages and the name of our app. We do not share your name, email, bookings or any other information about you with Spēk, and Spēk does not share information about you with us.

What you say in Spēk is turned into text, translated and spoken by Spēk under its own Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. Spēk records your voice only if you choose to, after asking for your consent. You can delete your voice or your Spēk account at any time in the Spēk app.
