Joint press release · Ollin and SpēkFor immediate release

Ollin and Spēk team up so travelers can talk to anyone on their trip, in their own voice

Ollin, the AI travel planner and in-trip companion, now opens Spēk, the live translator that speaks in your own voice, from inside every trip. One tap, and the traveler is talking with the waiter, the driver or the host family in their language, in a voice that still sounds like them.

Ollin, the AI travel planner and in-trip companion, now opens Spēk, the live translator that speaks in your own voice. From inside an Ollin trip, a traveler taps the Spēk button and is talking with the waiter, the driver or the host family a moment later, in the other person’s language, in a voice that still sounds like them.

Ollin already gets travelers to the right street on the right day. Spēk covers what happens when they get there. Hold the button, say it in your language, and the person across the table hears it in theirs, spoken in your voice, cloned from one short reading. They answer the same way. Spēk works in 22 languages, from Portuguese and Japanese to Arabic and Armenian.

“A trip is mostly the people you meet along the way. With Spēk one tap away inside Ollin, our travelers can finally talk to them, in their own voice.”

Jake Sorce, Founder, Ollin

“I built Spēk so I could talk with my fiancée’s mother in Brazil, and the first time she heard me in my own voice speaking Portuguese, I knew it was worth every hour. Travelers already have their favorite apps. We would rather be one tap away inside them than ask anyone to find one more.”

Jeff Hagopian, founder of ArtemisWorx, the company behind Spēk

Open to every travel app

The same button is open to any travel app, at no cost. Spēk Connect is a single link: the app passes the two languages, Spēk opens ready to talk, and a return button (“Back to Ollin” in Ollin’s case) brings the traveler back where they started. When Spēk is installed it opens in the app; when it is not, it opens in the browser, with nothing to download first. Design partners also share in Spēk Plus revenue from the travelers they bring. Details and the official button are at spek2me.com/developers.

Availability

The Spēk button is live today for every Ollin traveler, on the web and in the Ollin app. Spēk itself is on Google Play and the web, with the iPhone app in App Store review.
